Need Costume Ideas for This Halloween?

Halloween costume popularity varies from year to year, depending on events of the previous year and what movies, TV shows or books were popular that year. And then there are Halloween costumes that show up on your doorstep year after year, no matter what happened before Halloween! The new (or popular repeat) costumes for 2010 include the following

The biggest trend in Halloween costumes this year seems to be anything to do with Alice in Wonderland. This year’s movie of the same name, starring Johnny Depp and Anne Hathaway, will spur sales and rentals of costumes for the Mad Hatter, Alice, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, the Red Queen and the Queen of Hearts, the White Rabbit and the Cheshire cat. Some great Halloween costumes this year will be inspired by Shrek Forever After. Shrek, Princess Fiona, Rapunzel, Puss N’ Boots and the Donkey will be very popular costumes for children and adults alike.

Another big movie that will be sure to inspire costumes is How to Train Your Dragon. Dragon and Viking costumes are going to be really big. The dragon characters that will be knocking at your door come Halloween night will include Terrible Terror, Monstrous Nightmare, Gronckle, Night Fury and Hideous Zippleback. The Vikings at your Halloween party will include Snotlout, Fishlegs, Ruffnut and Tuffnut, Astrid, Stoick, and Hiccup.

The movie Robin Hood will undoubtedly inspire lots of Robin Hoods, Maid Marions, King Richards and Friar Tucks. Toy Story 3 is going to be great for kid’s costumes. What child wouldn’t enjoy dressing up as Buzz Lightyear or Jessie? There are new characters in this movie that will also be the inspiration for new costumes including Ken Doll, Peas-in-a-Pod and Lots-o’ Huggin’. There will be lots of Michael Jackson costumes this year as a result of his death in June of 2009, although he has inspired Halloween costumes for many years.

Some Halloween costumes are always in vogue. They’re easy, you can raid your closet or buy cheap components at a local store, almost anybody can make them and they scream “Halloween.” As always, there will be lots of witches, cowboys, ballerinas, fireman and policeman, superheroes, Ninjas, and princesses this Halloween.
